Our client is a global chemical manufacturing business who are currently recruiting for an I&E Engineer to join their team at Hartlepool. The overall purpose is to maximise plant availability by optimising and improving the reliability performance and provide technical electrical and instrument engineering input to problem solving activities.

Responsibilities: Complete detailed technical specification of plant instrument equipment and repairs, ensuring that the repairs are planned, approved and completed to the required standard including the selection of specialist service providers. Provide technical I&E engineering support to the plant team and take an active role in troubleshooting and problem-solving activities. Provide technical support during PM events and outages to resolve emergent issues and technically specify emergent work. Keep up to date with latest technologies and reliability improvement techniques and drive continuous improvement of the plant’s reliability performance by identifying and implementing improvement opportunities to achieve the current and future capacity, variable costs and product quality. Provide technical input to safety reviews, safety committees, risk assessments and incident investigations and complete appropriate actions arising from these. Maintain and update the area I&E life plan ensuring timely recommendation of CAPEX replacement and repair. Ensure thorough I&E engineering assessment of plant modifications so that any changes to technology, plant operating and maintenance methods, plant equipment or staffing are evaluated appropriately to mitigate the engineering risks.

Candidate requirements: Candidates will hold a minimum HND in Instrumentation Engineering. Hold substantial Instrumentation Engineering experience working in a 24/7 industrial environment, including:

Support Maintenance & Complex Fault Finding Support Operations & PM Planning Development, implementation & evaluation of improvements and modifications (Management of Change) Involvement in projects from feasibility to handover.

Member of a professional body with or working towards Incorporated Engineer status. 5 years of industry experience in the Upper Tier COMAH manufacturing sector is desirable. Knowledge of functional safety and experience of working with IEC 61508 and 61511 standards. Knowledge of the relevant standards associated with SIL Assessment and the management and maintenance of Safety Instrumented Systems. Knowledge of MOD300 and Delta V DCS Systems.
