Instrument Maintenance Technician II (Fife)

This is a full-time position based in Fife. The successful candidate will be working on a temporary ongoing contract through us on assignment with our client. You will be working fully on-site. JOB DESCRIPTION We are looking for an experienced Instrument Technician with a strong background in maintaining Instrumentation within the Petrochemical Industry. The successful candidate will join one of the leading energy companies' base maintenance team and be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Install, maintain, and troubleshoot on Instrumentation including, but not limited to, Triconex PLCs, Fisher/Foxboro/ABB valve positioners, control/trip valve overhauls, C300 DCS systems, Pressure/Flow Transmitters, Level Instrumentation both Pneumatic and Electronic, vibration monitoring systems, speed, and temperature measurement. Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to instrumentation and control systems. Responsible for SIF/SIS testing for the site. Conduct preventative maintenance testing, analyze subsequent performance to determine the root cause of failures and/or recommend appropriate repair methods. Metering experience - responsible for calibrations associated with site billing Instrumentation which includes Vortex and Coriolis measurement types. Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on instrumentation and control systems to CompEx Ex 01-04 standards. Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics. Demonstrate a high level of resilience, ownership, and innovation in solving maintenance problems. Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality of systems. Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance and repair activities using SAP. Act as a strong safety leader, always adhering to safety protocols and site/industry standards. Apply and follow work permits through the site Permit to Work System (PTWS). Support and encourage team effort between operations, engineering, and projects groups. Ensure the quality and timely completion of work scheduled by the Maintenance Program. Develop personal and team technical skills (for example, new regulations, equipment, methods, and others). Can act as a mentor for apprentices. Support work prioritization to maximize effectiveness and to complement the efforts of other work groups. Generate Management of Change requests (MOCs) on control-related equipment and installation. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Be passionate about eliminating waste within maintenance processes, driving continuous improvement in maintenance competitiveness. Feel a sense of accomplishment and pride with the work you do. Have a good command of written and spoken English. Be effective at delivering results both independently or as part of an Instrument maintenance team. Have a conscientious, careful, and independent way of working in order to deliver results in the field. Ability to safely adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities, including flexibility to work out of hours where required. Demonstrate strong communication skills; with the ability to describe conditions clearly and concisely in the field and recommend remediation steps. Fluency with computer and IT systems, including Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel). Minimum 10 years' experience in the Petrochemical industry with experience in maintaining Instruments and Controls in processing plants or offshore production plants. Have successfully completed an apprenticeship to NVQ level 3 or equivalent in an Instrument trade. HNC in Instrument Engineering or equivalent will be advantageous. CompEx Ex01-04 qualified.
