Locations: Glasgow, Scotland Time Type: Full-time Posted On: 2 days ago As the Instrument Support Engineer you will: Act as the Plant Manager’s representative in absence of Plant Management, and on-site Air Products representative to internal & external contacts, services, authorities & customers. Work as part of the operating team to ensure safe, efficient and reliable execution of all aspects of plant operation. Be responsible for all aspects of safety, health, quality and environmental compliance, site security, and mechanical maintenance. Be responsible for planning and execution of routine maintenance and shutdowns. Have shared responsibilities for operation, optimisation, productivity and best practice locally. Provide out of hours assistance for plant & satellite emergencies and operational/maintenance issues on a call-out basis. Ensure compliance with safety policies and practices. Resolve mechanical and process-related issues and breakdowns on site and at satellites. Work alongside the Operating Service Centre (OSC) operators as required as the on-site local team representative. Operate the plant when not in OSC control and conduct local plant shut down and start-up of the site and satellites when required. Manage the stock of spare parts and equipment held on site and accurate stock management of the bin locations via SAP. Maintain meticulous record keeping and complete the administrative elements of the role timely and accurately (such as SAP and plant logs). Ensure all work is within compliance to external standards ISO14001, ISO9001, ISO13485, ISO45001, GMP/GDP, FSSC22000. Ensure general duties activities are completed within the necessary timescale including LOLA, PUWER, Waste Management, Painting, General Housekeeping, etc. Train apprentices and new supervisors. As the Instrument Support Engineer you will have: Strong safety mindset and focus on operating practices. Good interpersonal and team working skills is crucial to working in a small team size. Good communication and customer facing skills. Proactive and self-motivated with a positive attitude to deliver results. Ability to work alone on occasions when on site at the satellites. Ability to work under pressure and in an extremely busy environment particularly during major plant turn around maintenance activities. Level 3 external qualification in Instrument Engineering or completion of recognised Instrumental apprenticeship or proven skills in this area; Level 4/5 Engineering qualifications preferred.
