Therefore, this role is very much focused around gross margin analysis and financial modelling, to support the business in making decisions commercially, delivering on strategic objectives whilst maximizing profitability.
The business doesn't use a standard costing model for their products; they currently use a raw material mark-up. You will need to utilize the management accounts to look at the impact of gross margin in different scenarios. You will take sales information and investigate margins by customer, region, country, product, etc., to enable strategic decisions to be made on new revenue streams maximizing profitability. You will look into various labor scenarios, the impact of labor for growth, costings of labor, etc., to support their new drafted 'pay range' structure, proposed bonus schemes, and possible future legislation changes.
Key Responsibilities:
You must be a qualified candidate with the ability to understand and analyze the P&L. You must have manufacturing experience and a strong understanding of costings, as while they don't use a standard costing model currently, this role may progress to support the development of one. You must have strong/advanced Excel skills, as while you'll be supported with parameters to set spreadsheets up, you'll be required to construct these autonomously. You must be available immediately or within a week's notice.
This position is initially a 3-6 month contract and will suit an experienced contractor that can deliver on objectives efficiently; however, there is the possibility of a permanent role being created out of this placement. This business is in a strong financial position, and the finance team hasn't grown with the business. The Finance Director has created a clear finance structure, but the team is lean, and there is the potential to increase headcount if there is value delivered from this position.
The position will either be a fixed-term contract with a negotiable salary or worked on a daily rate of £250 - £350 umbrella. However, all candidates will be considered as the client is looking to place this position as soon as possible.
