Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for someone experienced and passionate about clinical audit and clinical governance to lead the Trust's Clinical Audit and Effectiveness service for a 6 month period.

Responsible to the Associate Medical Director for Clinical Safety and Deputy Director of Quality and Governance, the successful candidate will lead the Trust wide programme of clinical audit and quality improvement support, including managing and coordinating the planning and implementation of the clinical audit and effectiveness programme.

Main duties of the job

Deliver the strategy for clinical audit in compliance with Care Quality Commission Regulations and best practice guidance. Identify KPIs that require clinical audit monitoring to provide assurance, working proactively with others to manage and coordinate divisional and Trust wide priorities for the clinical audit programme. Support the Trust's quality improvement and innovation plans in line with Trust Strategy. Coordinate the National Clinical Audit and Patient Outcomes Programme for the Trust ensuring compliance. Deliver improvements to the clinical effectiveness and governance processes and systems, utilising internal audit advice, in conjunction with national and international best practice standards. Demonstrate the source of risk and need for assurance in the clinical audit and quality improvement plans, reflecting the Trusts objectives, ensuring clear links are made to the Board Assurance Framework. Support the Clinical Audit and Effectiveness Forum, deliver the agenda to comply with the agreed work-plan and terms of reference. Collaborate with the Head of Patient Safety and Experience to optimise the risk identification and learning opportunities to support the delivery of the Trust's strategies for quality and effective services. With the Deputy Director of Quality and Governance, undertake the delivery of plans to monitor and demonstrate compliance with the Care Quality Commission regulatory standards and framework.

Degree or equivalent in Health related subject. Proficient in the use of office applications. Must be able to interpret and navigate medical terms and clinical services. Depth of knowledge and understanding of the national clinical audit programme, clinical governance and quality improvement principles. Proficient analysis skills and experience that provides ability to interpret information. Desirable

Masters degree in health related subject. Post graduate qualification in governance or risk management. Knowledge and Experience

Demonstrable evidence of substantial experience in clinical audit and governance. Able to articulate and interpret the impact of national directives, strategies and need for assurance activities. Demonstrable evidence of interpretation of CQC regulations and systems for monitoring practice, and the supporting policy development to demonstrate compliance. Personal Attributes & Skills

Essential

Highly effective report writing and written communication skills. Adept with principles of information management and governance. Able to manage administrative process and team effectively to meet competing demands. Experience in managing a team and ability to influence peers and management teams to achieve objectives.
