Short Description:

Short term consultative piece to perform a maturity assessment, gap analysis, and remediation roadmap for a large organisation in the UK.

Location:

Huddersfield (hybrid 3 days a week in the office) Duration:

3 months Rate:

£750 - £800 per day outside IR35

Overview: My client is seeking an experienced Interim Head of IT Security to manage, lead, and deliver a security remediation project and establish a robust IT Security Operating Model for its UK operations. Reporting to senior stakeholders, this role will focus on improving the organisation’s security posture and ensuring alignment with both internal policies and external best practices.

Key Responsibilities: Penetration Testing (PEN Test): Manage the end-to-end process of a PEN test conducted by a 3rd party provider. Engage with IT and security teams to ensure the test is conducted within a defined scope. Report findings, log remedial actions, and ensure the creation and execution of a remediation plan.

Security Audit: Conduct an audit of internal information security policies. Ensure the effective implementation of policies by UK IT teams and the operational activities required to maintain an ongoing security posture.

IT Security Operating Model: Develop an IT Security Operating Model for the UK IT teams, defining clear processes and interactions with group IT and external partners.

Organisational Structure: Review the current organisational structure of UK security teams. Propose a structure aligned with the operating model to enable effective delivery and management of IT security.

Required Skills & Experience: Senior management experience in IT security, including project leadership in security remediation and operational framework design. Proven expertise in creating IT Security Operating Models and designing team structures to support long-term security objectives. Strong analytical skills to assess security practices, identify gaps, and propose actionable improvements. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and partners.
