About the Department The Bonhams Impressionist & Modern Art department in London works alongside the Contemporary Art department on our marquee 20/21 Century Art sales, as well as holding two standalone Impressionist & Modern Art auctions and private sales. We also work closely with our colleagues in Paris and New York to assist with global Impressionist & Modern Art auctions. The department offers paintings, sculptures, works on paper and ceramics by key names from the 20th Century such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall and Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita. About the Role The Impressionist & Modern Art department is looking for a full-time Intern available to work Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm. This is a fixed-term position terminating on the 24th December 2024. In your role as Intern, you will be required to carry out the following: Key Tasks and Responsibilities Researching artworks using internal and external libraries Support the department in preparing for sales, producing condition reports for sale lots and assisting in the handling of aftersales. Supporting the department on viewing and sale days Art market research Assisting in maintaining and creating business development links Greeting and serving customers at the valuation desk and on the phone Answering enquiries received by email. About you The ideal candidate will have the following: Key Skills and Experience Excellent research skills with good attention to detail Ability to manage workflow and priorities in a fast-moving environment Excellent word processing skills, knowledge of MS Word and Excel Excellent time keeping, people skills and organisational skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral Ability to be discrete and keep confidentiality Flexibility and the ability to be a team player If you wish to apply, please send your CV and cover letter by 18th September 2024 at midnight.
