About The Role Are you currently at University studying for a computer science related degree and looking for a 12 month industrial placement starting in June 2025? At GÉANT, we enable research, education, science and innovation across the globe via our high-speed data communications networks and secure access technologies. Our Information Technology Services (ITS) team looks after the Service desk and develops the IT infrastructure which supports the internal operations of GÉANT. In this role, you’ll be involved with IT Projects as well as providing 1 st

line support to internal customers. You'll experience personal and professional growth through hands-on troubleshooting, problem-solving, and technical support. You'll work with diverse hardware and software systems, enhancing your technical expertise and knowledge, and collaborate with individuals from different teams within GÉANT. Additionally, you'll gain insight into widely recognised IT processes like ITIL, which could be valuable for your future career. You’ll be part of our project to install and configure a new IT Service Management tool, which will handle tickets for IT as well as several other teams within GÉANT, and capture assets and processes many of which are currently spread among other systems. You’ll also be responsible for migrating content from our existing wiki pages to our new SharePoint online system. Please note: this role will not include any software development so is not suitable for those students whose principal interest is programming or software development. You will need to be able to work onsite each day at our office in Cambridge. Please do not apply if you are not currently studying for an undergraduate degree. This is a 12 month industrial placement for students who are doing a sandwich course and who will be returning to university after the placement to complete their degree. About You You’ll need to be currently enrolled at university as an undergraduate studying for a Computer Science or related degree and able to undertake a 12 month industrial placement as part of your course. You must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of computing concepts and have had exposure to Windows and Mac OS. A logical and methodical approach to work, along with good customer service skills and the ability to exhibit tact, diplomacy and empathy at all levels, is essential.
