Job Description Location:

Monks Eleigh Parish Council, Stowmarket, IP14 3EY Position:

Intern Type:

Full Time Duration:

2 Month Internship Reference:

0967 Role Overview:

Intern wanted to set up and trial a Passenger Mobile App. Monks Eleigh Parish Council is leading the planning and introduction of a digitally supported ‘on-demand’ bus service across the parishes in the Brett Valley, extending to Stowmarket, Hadleigh, Sudbury, and Lavenham, from where travellers can make further connections. This initiative aims to offer a wider service to more villages and bring social and economic benefits, as mobility is a core measure in the index of deprivation. The buses will be bookable via both App and Phone. The aim of this first phase of implementation is to set up the data in the App and load real passenger demand so that parishes and community transport operators can see and experience its operation. This will be followed by simulation of additional demand and testing of the routes created. This internship is designed for a student or recent graduate who is ICT savvy and can gain practical work experience supporting a project with significant social impact. There is no need for detailed computer programming, but familiarity with Apps and their use will be valuable. Support and guidance will be provided.
