This new role, created as part of an ambitious investment in the newsroom, is intended to help drive the quality of The Telegraph and growth in paid subscriptions. Key Responsibilities

Find and write the best, most interesting exclusive stories in international economics by speaking to contacts and interrogating data for publication across our digital and print products. Originate and write original, ideas-driven news and analysis on a daily basis, as well as agenda-setting interviews and features. Reporting on migration - the crises, policy and data - will form the cornerstone of coverage. Other areas will include cross-border trade, the evolution of the Eurozone and its political economy, fiscal crises and any other area of international macroeconomics of interest to Telegraph readers. Contribute to general business and economics coverage when requested by commissioning editors. Working with the social media and SEO teams to promote the economics team’s digital output off Telegraph platforms. Reporting to the Business Editor, the International Economics Editor will form a crucial and senior part of a growing economics team, helping to shape coverage and develop junior reporters. This is a full-time role based at The Telegraph’s offices in Victoria. The role includes international travel and occasional weekend working. Key Skills

Excellent understanding of international economics and politics, with contacts at the senior levels of governments, regulators and NGOs. Clear grasp and appreciation of The Telegraph’s audience and history. Ability to break news from an array of sources. Ability to identify strong analytical angles on moving stories. Crisp, stylish writing and ability to switch between news, analysis, colour and other forms. Ability to explain the most complex of economic concepts and the most abstract ideas to a general audience. Ability to originate multiple ideas every day and to think in headlines. Ability to think in graphical terms and to conceptualise visual representations of economic stories. Digitally savvy - understanding of digital storytelling and optimisation of content through social media and SEO. Experience working as part of a reporting team and with more junior reporters.
