Investigator, Exosomes We are looking for a highly motivated scientist with experience in extracellular vesicles (i.e. exosome) isolation and characterisation to join the Oncology Translational Research team in GSK. The Oncology Translational Research team will partner with Oncology TA team members to increase clinical translatability and to contribute to preclinical development programs within GSK Oncology TA. The successful candidate will work as part of a team that, by exploiting patient-derived organoids, is developing and implementing cutting-edge cellular, genomic and molecular techniques with a multimodality analytic approach, plus machine learning models to improve cancer patient risk stratification as well as to predict future targeted and/or immuno-therapy susceptibilities. Job Purpose In this role you will Isolate and purify exosomes from patient-derived samples including organoids, blood samples and tissues using ultracentrifugation and other methods. Analyse exosomes characteristics (including but not limited to concentration, zeta potential, size) and exosomes content (proteins, DNA, RNA). Setting up protocol for exosomes characterisation by flow cytometry (NanoFCM). Managing more junior team members and train them on exosomes protocols. Collaborate and solve technical issues operating as part of a cross-functional project team involved in translational research. Execute and deliver data of the project to a high quality and within define time-frames. Why you? Basic Qualifications & Skills: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: BSc in Cell Biology/Oncology or related discipline with demonstrated experience in extracellular vesicles (in particular exosomes) isolation and characterisation. Strong experience with relevant techniques such as flow cytometry (NanoFCM) and nanoparticle tracking. A track record of scientific publications in the EV area. Ability to deliver high quality, consistent results in a timely fashion with a positive can-do and result oriented attitude. Prior experience of managing or mentoring junior members in a laboratory. Preferred Qualifications & Skills: Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply: Preferred MSc or PhD. Strong understanding of cancer biology, including the molecular mechanisms underlying tumorigenesis and cancer progression. Experience with the following techniques: tapestation for DNA analysis, automated western blotting. Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex scientific and business challenges.
