About Us

Lothian Pension Fund administers the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) in Edinburgh and the Lothians. We’re an asset-backed and multi-employer scheme with around £10 billion of assets and the second largest LGPS fund in Scotland, serving 88,900 members and 56 active employers.

LPF is unique in Scotland in operating an FCA-regulated investment arm, which allows the team to provide advisory services and to manage assets for third parties. Overview & Responsibilities During Eight-week Summer Internship Programme

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience about the investment management industry with hands-on exposure to investment decision-making in equities, fixed income and real assets. Involvement in portfolio company monitoring and supporting the production of internal updates. Undertaking company and/or sector research and financial analysis. Analysis of environmental, social and governance factors at the company or portfolio level. Qualifications & Requirements

A penultimate year undergraduate or master’s student at university and on course for a minimum of a 2:1 – completed and awarded before August 2026. A demonstrated interest and passion in financial markets, trading, and financial products. The candidate should possess a broad set of quantitative, qualitative and people skills, and be a strong team player with high analytical, intellectual and problem-solving capabilities. Knowledge of financial statement analysis, valuation techniques. Competency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Strong organisation skills and attention to detail with the ability to prioritise, manage and deliver on multiple concurrent projects. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
