What you'll do
This is a full-time on-site role for a Project Engineer at digitalphobia Ltd. The Project Engineer will be responsible for project planning, engineering, and management tasks to optimise IT systems for clients. Responsibilities include collaborating with team members, implementing network solutions, and ensuring project success.
Core duties and responsibilities
Solution Specification / Proposals / Quoting
Identify IT solutions to problems with the guidance of Projects Manager
Assist with writing proposal documents
Use quoting tool to produce quotations for customers
Project Work
Assist with management of projects with the guidance of Projects Manager
Liaison with customer stakeholders to provide timely updates on project status
Liaison with customer end users as needed for training and handover
Identifying unexpected problems within projects and producing solutions
Use of ConnectWise Manage to keep a log of time and notes related to project progress
Liaison with other departments to make use of additional staff resource where required
Documentation of all work, and handover information to clients as needed
Additional duties and responsibilities
Escalated Support
Be a technical escalation resource for complex support tickets when required
Change Management
Assist with infrastructure changes under managed contracts, such as:
Switch/firewall reconfiguration
Migration to new software
Major software version upgrades
Infrastructure maintenance
Identify software/firmware vulnerabilities which require patching
Assist in deployment of updates to systems
Identify hardware lifecycles and management of warranties
Review trending data to address future growth
Regular site visits
As required, weekly/fortnightly/monthly site visits for larger clients.
Ad-hoc site visits
Attending client sites for work that falls outside of service team scope, such as:
Installing/replacing networking/server infrastructure equipment
Complex reconfiguration work
Emergency site visit where high level of problem solving required
Key technical skills required
- Minimum of 3 years experience in IT/computing
- Demonstrable experience of involvement with IT project work
- Microsoft 365:
Exchange Online
SharePoint/OneDrive
Intune
Entra ID
- Knowledge of business backup software (e.g. Veeam)
- Password management software (e.g. Bitwarden, LastPass)
- On-premise Windows Server systems:
Active Directory / Windows DHCP inc failover / DNS
Hyper-V
- A strong grounding of networking, including:
IP addressing and subnetting
Switching and routing
VLANs
- Hardware firewall principles
- Single sign on and identity management principles
- Confident in using PowerShell

Be able to drive and have full use of own car (company mileage expensed)
This role is based at our Oxford offices. Ad-hoc working from home is considered for special/personal reasons or where it makes sense for project work, however the primary day-to-day is office based.
