Our Client has a requirement in New Style of IT to move from the present ISS systems-based contracts and migrate to deliver configurable Operational Information Services in a more agile, responsive and flexible manner than is currently achieved, aiming to achieve predictable delivery timelines for this complex, customer led, design, development and installation programme. Responsibilities:

Managing teams of Engineers and the resources assigned to them within the NSoIT(D) programme. Participating in planning events, assisting in the definition of scope and quality, including “definitions of done”, and estimation of resource requirements. Leading the creation of detailed engineering plans for the team, ensuring that the activities have been identified and processes followed to deliver well engineered products and solutions. Preparing and maintaining schedules of activities and events, taking account of dependencies and resource requirements in line with programme scheduling tools. Ensuring that all dependencies are or will be in place to enable the delivery of the planned outputs. Managing the delivery of the team’s outputs to the required time and quality, using the most appropriate method, or combination of methods to ensure that teams work on well planned and prioritised work and deliver well engineered products and solutions. Tracking the actual effort and time used and what was delivered against the expected outputs and resources assigned to produce them. Managing change, including: determining its scope and impact and escalating delays or issues as required; controlling change, and; monitoring and recording its impact on the team’s outputs. Coaching the teams on good practices, facilitating and ensuring that these are followed to ensure that they develop the outputs and products agreed during the planning events to meet the definitions of done and acceptance criteria. Liaising with other EPMs within the programme to flex resources to ensure that Engineering meets its outputs. Identifying and managing risks, issues, dependencies, and opportunities, implementing responses to them and escalating as required. Supporting Engineering Management to capture and assess the potential impact of Change Requests, both internal and external. Leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of processes to improve the effectiveness and efficiency within the team. Producing management information as required to evidence progress of delivery. Providing quality assurance of product testing within the team. Ensuring documentary artefacts are produced to support the team’s deliverables.
