Permanent Role Overview - IT Systems Engineer

We are looking for a proactive and highly skilled IT Systems Engineer to support our client's operations. In this role, you will manage and maintain both customer IT systems and internal infrastructure, ensuring seamless performance for Managed Service Provider (MSP) and Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) clients. You'll also play a key part in developing and maintaining in-house technology solutions while collaborating with a talented team to deliver top-notch support. Key Responsibilities - IT Systems Engineer

Provide technical support and management for client IT systems, including configuring and troubleshooting hardware (servers, NAS, SANs, mobile devices, etc.) and software. Monitor system performance and ensure everything is running smoothly by applying patches, resolving technical issues, and conducting regular updates. Assist with backup operations, ensuring backup integrity and conducting restore tests as required. Act as the main point of contact for resolving client issues, performing detailed troubleshooting, and providing updates on progress. Collaborate in developing and maintaining in-house solutions like VMware, Sophos, VoIP platforms, and more. Be part of the 24/7 on-call rotation, providing support for urgent troubleshooting needs. Ensure compliance with established IT security policies and industry best practices. Work with external vendors and suppliers to resolve any technical issues not handled in-house. Continuously evaluate current processes and propose improvements to increase efficiency. Help with the creation of standardized builds for laptops and PCs, ensuring they meet security and client requirements. Research and recommend new technologies and best practices for IT infrastructure. Experience & Qualifications - IT Systems Engineer

Degree (2:1) or HND/HNC in IT/Engineering, or at least 3 years of relevant work experience. Proven experience working in an MSP environment. Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2019/2022, including configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Proficiency in managing Microsoft Windows 10/11 desktop environments, including building, patching, and troubleshooting. Good understanding of IT Security concepts (firewalls, antivirus, etc.). Experience with VMware installation, high availability configurations, and troubleshooting. A solid understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, and firewalls. Excellent problem-solving skills and a methodical, analytical approach. Experience with tools such as Endpoint Central, Veeam, and PRTG. Relevant Microsoft certifications.
