About The Role FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Java Engineer to work for our client within the technology sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in London or Telford. Our client is looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable Java Engineer to join their growing team. You will be involved in all stages of software delivery, including design, development, configuring, deploying, and monitoring using industry-standard tooling, working in a DevOps capacity. Responsibilities

Develop and maintain Java-based applications and microservices Collaborate with a multi-disciplined team in an Agile environment Participate in all stages of software delivery, including design, development, testing, and deployment Engage with stakeholders and manage expectations Ensure quality-driven development and adaptability to context switch Perform unit testing and debugging to ensure the quality and reliability of software Participate in code reviews to maintain a high level of code quality Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to system performance, scalability, and security Continuously improve software by incorporating feedback, fixing bugs, and optimising existing code Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies, and suggest improvements to development processes About You Requirements

Excellent communication and team engagement skills Quality-driven and adaptable Strong problem-solving and business analysis skills Ability to work within a team under the guidance of a Technical Lead More senior grades - proven leadership and coaching skills Must be eligible for SC Clearance Technical Requirements

Java (min Java 8, Java 17+ preferred) Spring / Spring Boot 3+ Microservices architecture Git / GitLab SQL / JDBC DevOps practices (CI/CD pipelines, Docker image creation, Kubernetes) Testing knowledge (JUnit, Playwright, BDD desirable) Other desirable skills include MongoDB, JavaScript, HTML, OOD, Oracle, .Net, Application Monitoring, Shell Scripting, React, AWS, Kibana, Selenium, Cucumber About Us Why join us?
