Design and delivery of technical architecture for digital services deployed onto cloud platforms (primarily AWS). Application of best-practice engineering principles, including:

Unit testing and test automation. Agile methods and continuous improvement. Adherence to design patterns and SOLID principles.

Ensure solutions comply with industry standards:

GOV.UK Technology Code of Practice. NCSC Guidelines / Secure by Design principles. GOV.UK Design System. ISO27001 information security standards.

Leadership

Advocate for and implement Agile methods (predominantly Scrum). Provide technical leadership to developers and development teams. Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders. Lead the production and presentation of architecture documentation for senior stakeholders, approval boards, and other groups. Relevant Skills and Experience

Proven expertise in distributed Java-based architectures and application design. Solid experience with Java frameworks, such as Spring Boot and Spring MVC. Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns. Proficiency with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server) and ORM tools like Hibernate. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI). Solid grasp of software development methodologies like Agile or Scrum. Hands-on experience with version control systems like Git. Nice-to-Have
