This role is based in London on a hybrid basis. Summary: We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Lead Pipeline Developer to join our team. You will play a crucial role in developing, maintaining, and enhancing our current pipeline, ensuring that it meets the evolving needs of our artists and projects. You will also work closely with the Head of CG on developing a new pipeline. Main responsibilities: Develop and maintain pipeline, apps and tools specifically for DCC workflows in a CG context, as well as broader department integrations for Editorial and Production. Collaborate with heads of departments to effectively identify workflow challenges and transform these into maintainable solutions. Delegate to junior team members or external parties when appropriate. Write clear and comprehensive documentation to support the pipeline’s functionalities. Provide day-to-day support to artists, addressing their requests and troubleshooting issues. Interact with the IT team with respect to operating, file, and network systems’ issues. What we’re looking for: You are a creative problem solver with a highly motivated mindset. You are able to break complex briefs into attainable goals and meet their deadlines. You enjoy taking ownership and responsibility for the workflow, tools and pipeline. You are comfortable working in a smaller studio, with a dynamic team of artists, with a focus on teamwork and shared goals. You enjoy collaborating with other pipeline developers and like to mentor and guide more junior team members, to empower them and grow their talents. You are naturally curious and a fast learner, adaptable to new tools, workflows, and programming languages. Required Experience/Skills: You should have a background in creating applications and tools for Shotgrid or similar project management software. Advanced experience developing in Python. Experience with Shotgrid API and Toolkit. Experience and understanding of a broad set of CG software and their Python API’s: e.g. Maya, Houdini, Nuke, UE5 etc. Experience integrating workflows into renderfarm managers like Deadline or RoyalRender. Experience with git and ability to manage multiple development streams across different repositories. Proven knowledge of pipeline production techniques. 5+ years’ experience developing tools and pipelines. 7+ years’ experience within CG / Animation, VFX or Games. Preferred Experience/Skills: Desirable to have experience with Perforce or other version control software from a DCC application POV.
