We are looking for a Food Microbiology Analyst to join our Eurofins Belfast laboratory working within a state of the art Food Microbiology laboratory, with the following duties:
Preparation of media (agars etc.) to be used in microbiological analysis
Sample preparation in line with company protocols
Microbiological analysis of water/food/feed/swabs samples in line with company protocols
Training and operation of relevant equipment
General housekeeping of laboratory and prevention of cross contamination
Accurate record-keeping associated with UKAS quality system
Effective communication with all employees
Report any anomalous results or situations to Line Manager
Adhere to Health and Safety procedures within the laboratory
Collection of laboratory samples from customer sites (food only, when required)
Any other related activities as required by post
Qualifications
Essential Requirements :
Degree in a related field
Computer literate with experience of MS Office applications (in particular Excel)
Comfortable working in a busy environment
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work quickly and accurately
Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
Strong communication skills
Desirable :
Experience of culture of microorganisms
Knowledge of laboratory accreditation systems (ideally ISO 17025)
