Junior Laboratory Analyst – Fixed Term Contract

Job Description We are seeking a junior analyst to join our fast-paced water microbiology department in Belfast. This is a fixed-term contract until January 2026, working 36.25 hours per week, on a rotating shift pattern which will include Monday to Friday and Tuesday to Saturday - 06:00-14:00 / 10:00-18:00. During training, the normal hours will be 08:00-16:00 or 09:00-17:00. Staff will also be required to cover bank holidays on a rota basis. Flexibility in working hours is required, and overtime may be required at short notice during peak business demands during the week and at the weekend. Responsibilities:

Preparation of media (agars etc.) to be used in microbiological analysis Sample preparation in line with company protocols Microbiological analysis of water samples in line with company protocols Training and operation of relevant equipment General housekeeping of the laboratory and prevention of cross-contamination Accurate data entry into the laboratory database Accurate record-keeping associated with the UKAS quality system Effective communication with all employees Report any anomalous results or situations to the Laboratory Supervisor Adhere to health and safety procedures within the laboratory
