The Coronary Care unit at St Bartholomew’s Heart Centre is currently recruiting for a Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to join the existing team. We are looking for experienced coronary care nurses to join our busy
unit that cares for a wide variety of cardiology patients including those admitted through our busy emergency Heart Attack and Direct Arrhythmia pathways. You will need significant experience in cardiology and be able to demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge. You will be expected to take an active role in helping us to continuously improve on our patient centred care. Excellent communication skills are essential with a proven ability to support and mentor staff. You will have an opportunity to rotate internally between Cardiology Intervention and Electrophysiology in order to develop a full range of skills and be supported with in house training and a mentorship programme. Part of the country’s largest Heart centre, the Education, training and development are an important philosophy of the units and access is provided to courses both in-house and at partner universities. 3A CCU is lucky enough to have their own dedicated Education Sister who supports all staff in their development and works closely with new starters. Applicants will be expected to support the Senior Sister and Charge Nurse both clinically and operationally with the role offering significant development opportunities for the successful candidate. The Junior Sister / Junior Charge Nurse provides the highest standard of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualised, holistic patient care as part of the multi-disciplinary team. The band 6 junior sister / junior charge nurse acts as a role model and clinical teacher, and displays effective leadership and preceptorship to the nursing and non-nursing team. The junior sister / junior charge nurse takes charge of the coronary care unit as required, liaising closely with the senior sister / senior charge nurse with continuing responsibility.
