As a Junior sister/ charge nurse of AMU department you are responsible for assessment of clients entering the AMU Department , prioritisation of treatment, delivery of care and evaluation. The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care with or without direct supervision , required to demonstrate procedures and to supervise qualified and/or unqualified staff in AMU Ward & SDEC unit. Main duties of the job

Main Duties of Junior Sister / Charge nurse in AMU Department is to oversee the day to day function of allocated units in AMU department - Acute Medical Ward and SDEC- Same day emergency unit. Support the Senior team leaders on Management Financial and physical dimensions on effective budgetary management & day to day management of the clinical unit activity levels. Support and manage together with senior team leaders in managing post holders within ward establishment. Responsible for leading team & ensuring an appropriately skilled and effective workforce. Flexible approach to working patterns - this post will require rotation to night duty and will require weekend working including bank holidays to ensure the units establishments. As a Junior Sister / Charge nurse in AMU department your responsibilities are: Supporting Senior team leaders in effective budgetary management of clinical area within the agreed budgetary and activity levels. Support Senior team leaders in managing post holders within ward establishment including registered nurses & generic support workers. Responsible for leading the emergency team and ensuring an appropriate skilled and effective workforce. Flexible approach to working patterns - this post will require rotation to night duty and will require weekend working. To work in both areas of AMU Department which is AMU ward & SDEC ( Same day emergency care) Unit. About us

Governance

Awareness of current NHS issues & appreciation of the issues surrounding governance & quality initiative Knowledge of adult and child safeguarding Management of patient information Clinical Skills and experience

A minimum of 5 years recent post registration emergency nursing experience. A minimum of 2 years' recent experience working at Band 6 level in the Emergency Department Leadership and management experience Ability to demonstrate initiative and self-motivation. IT skills e.g., word, excel, outlook and hospital database experience. Ability to plan and prioritise own and others workload when under pressure Evidence of ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team. To be responsible for a team of nurses including appraisals and sickness management Able to critically analyse and apply research to the clinical setting Experience of working with an electronic patient record and other basic IT systems. Clinical supervision experience Project management, knowledge & skills Ability to manage databases Ability to recognize the contribution of members of the MDT Qualifications & Training

Proven and current experience in the Emergency Medicine setting. Post-registration A&E course or equivalent study Honours degree - or currently working towards. Hold registered mentor or teaching/ education qualification Clinical competence in- IV drug administration Venepuncture & Cannulation X-ray requesting Working towards Masters level study. ALS Instructor/ATNC Instructor MIMM's - Major Incident Medical Management Current Certification ALS Advanced Trauma Nursing Course Personal & Professional Attributes

Ability to work flexibly according to service demands Creative and solution orientated Confident, assertive and approachable Able to work in a busy operational environment as part of a multi-disciplinary team Other Requirements

Sound knowledge of the principles & practice of emergency care Ability to manage change, both personally & as a facilitator. Adheres to Trust Values Disclosure and Barring Service Check
