Are you an experienced Band 5 Nurse looking to develop your career? In order to enable us to maintain our commitment to high quality patient focused care, we are looking for experienced Children's Nurses who would like to develop their skills and knowledge in a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse role. You will work within our amazing team in the Children's Assessment Unit at Colchester Hospital. The children's services team cover Children's assessment unit, Children's Emergency Department, Children's elective care and Children's Inpatient unit. Our busy departments receive children with a wide spectrum of childhood illnesses and injuries; you will be exposed to caring for children 0-16yrs in all areas offering you exceptional opportunities for learning, development and supported career progression. We are looking for a highly professional individual who has excellent clinical and organizational ability who would like to further develop their managerial skills. We have full time post but part time hours will be considered for right candidate. Main duties of the job

To provide assessment, recognition, prioritisation and evaluation of children with minor injuries/serious illness/injury presenting for urgent care. To effectively manage and develop the nursing team within the Children's Emergency Department (ED) and Children's Assessment Unit (CAU) and provide professional and clinical leadership in the delivery of high quality, safe, cost effective care to children and families. To develop the role of the Paediatric Nurse Practitioner/Pediatric Emergency Nurse Practitioner, assisting in meeting the standard of all children being assessed, treated and discharged/admitted within 4 hours of arrival.
