Are you an experienced Band 5 Nurse looking to develop your career?

In order to enable us to maintain our commitment to high quality patient-focused care, we are looking for experienced Children's Nurses who would like to develop their skills and knowledge in a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse role. You will work within our amazing team in the Children's Assessment Unit at Colchester Hospital.

The children's services team covers the Children's Assessment Unit, Children's Emergency Department, Children's Elective Care, and Children's Inpatient Unit. Our busy departments receive children with a wide spectrum of childhood illnesses and injuries; you will be exposed to caring for children aged 0-16 years in all areas, offering you exceptional opportunities for learning, development, and supported career progression.

We are looking for a highly professional individual who has excellent clinical and organizational ability and who would like to further develop their managerial skills.

We have a full-time post, but part-time hours will be considered for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

To provide assessment, recognition, prioritization, and evaluation of children with minor injuries/serious illness/injury presenting for urgent care. To effectively manage and develop the nursing team within the Children's Emergency Department (ED) and Children's Assessment Unit (CAU) and provide professional and clinical leadership in the delivery of high quality, safe, cost-effective care to children and families. To develop the role of the Paediatric Nurse Practitioner/Pediatric Emergency Nurse Practitioner, assisting in meeting the standard of all children being assessed, treated, and discharged/admitted within 4 hours of arrival.

We are ESNEFT and we provide hospital and community health services to almost one million people across East Suffolk and North Essex. Our dedicated staff deliver care from acute hospitals in Colchester and Ipswich, community hospitals, surgeries, community clinics, and in patients' own homes.

We are one of the largest NHS organizations in England, employing more than 12,000 staff.

We pride ourselves on supporting our staff. We offer a wide range of training and development opportunities, as well as flexible working options.

Along with supporting you to achieve your career goals, we offer a generous pension scheme, unsocial hours payments (where applicable), 27 days annual leave on commencement (pro rata), and access to a range of NHS discounts. Our Staff Health and Wellbeing programme offers a variety of services.

Our philosophy is that Time Matters to everyone. Across the Trust, we concentrate on improving the things we do and removing those which cause time delays for our staff and patients.

We are investing in our commitment to Time Matters with a partnership with leading electronic patient record (EPR) supplier Epic. This digital transformation will bring what is widely regarded as the world's best EPR system to ESNEFT, transforming life in hospital for staff and patients.
