Professionally accountable to Matron and reporting to Band 7 Sister, nurses will be expected to understand and implement the 4WARD values: Do as we say we will do No delays, every day We listen, we learn, we lead Work together, celebrate together 6 Cs: Care, Compassion, Competence, Communication, Courage, Commitment To work according to the NMC Code and relevant professional guidelines and frameworks, including the 6 Cs as a named nurse / key worker for a defined group of patients and take responsibility for: The assessment of care and health education needs. The development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care including discharge planning for each patient. To demonstrate experience and skills in: Clinical Practice, Facilitation and Teaching Management To ensure effective communication with patients, relatives, carers, and the multidisciplinary team. To participate in preceptorship programmes as appropriate and act as a facilitator / mentor / preceptor / role model to less experienced staff. To provide supervision, support, and education to junior staff, unqualified staff, and students. Develop, lead, and manage a patient-centred nursing service delivered by professional staff, ensuring the highest possible standards of care. To deputise for the Senior Sister in her absence and manage and develop new clinics and staff working within the area. Contribute significantly towards the strategic and operational development of the Unit. Key Responsibilities

Patient Care Responsibilities

Acting as a Named Nurse, ensuring accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care within a team nursing framework. Promote a patient-focused approach to care in collaboration with all relevant health professionals. Educate patients and their carers where a need has been identified. Provide information enabling patients to make choices about adopting a healthier lifestyle. Complete patient documentation correctly. Work with the Departmental Manager in establishing and monitoring protocols/care pathways. Participate in the promotion and maintenance of effective communication with all stakeholders. Support people's equality, diversity, and rights at all times. Safeguard vulnerable adults in accordance with agreed policies and procedures. Maintain patient safety by delegating care to appropriately skilled nurses and reporting incidents as necessary. Professional Development and Education Responsibilities

Develop own teaching skills and participate in staff/student education programmes. Maintain a suitable learning environment for staff and supervise less experienced personnel. Attend Trust/local orientation and mandatory training sessions. Maintain a professional portfolio with evidence of reflective practice. Support the Departmental Manager in developing nursing practice guidelines, standards, and policies. Professional and Clinical Leadership Responsibilities

Deputise for the Departmental Manager and liaise with multi-disciplinary team members to ensure effective patient care. Lead and coordinate the Department in the absence of the Departmental Manager. Act as an ambassador for the organisation and the nursing profession. Maintain NMC registration and ensure adherence to the NMC code of conduct. Prepare duty rota for the department, ensuring effective staff cover. Monitor the safe and effective use of all equipment and manage the departmental budget. Research and Development Responsibilities

Promote practice in line with relevant research and remain aware of evidence-based practices. Audit, Quality, and Risk Management Responsibilities

Contribute to setting and monitoring standards of care and maintain compliance with quality issues. Participate in the audit process to monitor and review nursing quality. Resource Management Responsibilities

Maintain awareness of budgeting and economics in equipment use. Local Ward / Department Variation to Core Job Description
