Main duties of the job
Candidates will have RSCN qualifications with experience at Band 6 level. They must be able to demonstrate good leadership qualities and support a team of nurses whilst co-ordinating the flow within the department.
You will be required to:
Take direct managerial responsibility for the clinical area Assist in the leadership and development of an identified group of nurses within the department and ensure that regular 1:1s and professional development is maintained amongst their teams. The Band 6 is also responsible for ensuring that all staff in their team have yearly appraisals completed on time. The successful candidate will robustly assist managing the ED ward audits and ensure it remains in a positive position and escalate and act on any concerns Act as a clinical resource within the department Act as a positive role model to junior staff members. Particular emphasis is on the need to ensure that all staff recognise their responsibility to deliver services in a high quality, courteous, patient-focused manner and to maintain patient confidentiality at all times Have a sound understanding of the Emergency Care Standards (ECS) and assist the senior management team in delivering this Have a good understanding of relevant local and national health agenda items Act up on behalf of the Band 7 in their absence and attend meetings as necessary
