Ensure that safe, effective and holistic patient care is delivered. Be responsible for assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of individualised programmes of care in partnership with patient, carers and consultants. Coordinate the ward and to help facilitate safe discharge. Support the staffing patch bleep out of hours. Supports the ward sister in performing clinical audits and to action any area which require an improvement. Accurately observe patient's condition and initiate appropriate action. Administer medication safely to patients, including IV and cytotoxic drugs using evidence based guidelines. Undertake evidence based care for a variety of indwelling central venous catheters. Maintain accurate, timely patient records and relevant data collection. Communicate effectively with patients, visitors and all members of the multi professional team. Participate in patient/carer education e.g. advice about patient's condition/needs, health promotion in particular in relation to endocrine conditions. To safely use clinical equipment relevant to own work area. Order investigations and blood tests within scope of practice. Undertake venepuncture and cannulation plus any specialist clinical skills such as venesection which are required by the area. About us
