Smedley Group own and operate Global Karting League (GKL), an arrive and drive electric karting championship. Our mission at GKL is to make motorsport more inclusive and diverse. Having grown rapidly since we launched in 2020, our business is primed to develop substantially in the UK and internationally during 2024 and thereafter into 2025.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance of a fleet of race karts

Pre- and post-event servicing in the workshop. This will need to be done in a timely fashion and to a very high standard in order to provide an excellent customer experience. This includes accurate reporting of damages and works completed before, during and after each event, and following detailed build and service instructions.

As this is a fleet of electric racing karts, repairs and build of low voltage electrical systems may also be required.

Workshop tasks

Other tasks in the workshop may be completed as and when required. This may, amongst other tasks, include maintenance of equipment and hardware associated with karting events.

Live race events

Assist with logistics to and from events.

Assist with the setup and pack down of events.

Possibility of travelling to kart circuits in the UK to maintain and, where necessary, repair karts to a high standard in a pressurised environment.

You are:

Passionate about motorsport and fully dedicated to our mission and purpose.

A team player who can take instruction and know how and when to use your initiative.

Highly organised and work methodically with a high attention to detail.

Willing to travel to and work at kart racing events at weekends when required. This is desirable but not essential.

You have:

The technical skills and experience to build, maintain and assist with development of our kart fleet.

A flexible approach to work and are prepared to work as part of the team or alone to achieve the high targets we set ourselves.

Strong communication skills and can effectively use them with people of all levels, ages and backgrounds.

A positive attitude to work.

A full driving licence and your own transport.

Experience:

Experience of preparing a fleet of karts in a timely fashion and to a very high standard.

Experience of working at live events, maintaining and - where necessary - repairing karts to a high standard in a pressurised environment is desirable but not essential.

Join us in an exciting and rewarding environment, where you'll play a crucial role in shaping GKL’s legacy in motorsport - apply now and be part of the motorsport revolution!

Smedley Group is committed to attracting, recruiting, and retaining the most talented individuals, regardless of age, disability, gender identity, gender expression, gender reassignment, marital or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion, belief, sex or sexual orientation. We strive to be a team that supports diversity in the workplace and promoting an inclusive culture in which all team members are respected, empowered and valued.
