Job title: Laboratory Assistant Job Type: Contract Start date: Subject to Clearance Salary Range: £15 - 29.48 (depending on experience) Contract length: 12 months Location: Thurso - hybrid 3 days a week on site Hours of work: 37 hours per week

Role & Responsibilities:

Undertake and deliver sample preparation, routine analysis, and reporting to the lab or team leader, ensuring CSS reporting deadlines are met Maintain a daily log, reporting progress or issues to the laboratory leader/shift chemist Assist in minimising operational delays by identifying constraints leading to unplanned downtime Report non-compliance and deliver corrective actions Undertake safety checks and ensure appropriate actions are taken Maintain and develop proficiency in one or more laboratory areas Prepare technical documents for review Perform method development, validation, and uncertainty estimation Undertake audits on UKAS aspects of the quality management system Qualifications/Experience Required:

HNC in Science or equivalent qualifications with experience STEM qualifications at least to higher grade or equivalent Ideally applicants should also have:

Experience in analytical operations within laboratory environments Knowledge of quality management systems, specifically UKAS Ability to perform method development and validation tasks UK National Security Vetting Status - Applicants must be able to obtain UKSV BPSS Clearance.
