The Quality function promotes quality and compliance through the product life-cycle within the wider manufacturing and production operations at the GSK Ware Manufacturing Site. This entails monitoring all quality related systems, improvement procedures and documentation (including data and information), ensuring that products released have been manufactured, packaged and distributed according to all Regulatory and cGMP requirements (including appropriate certification for EU markets).

Job Purpose:

Reporting directly to the Laboratory Automation and New Technology Manager, you will provide equipment expertise to deliver new automation, new digital solutions, maintain existing equipment and to validate new equipment and platforms. On-site, the role-title is "Equipment/Digital Specialist". In delivering your role, you will interact both internally and externally to GSK (eg. R&D, sister sites and equipment manufacturers).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Repair and maintain existing equipment, building a good relationship with the supplier

  • Validate new equipment and new technologies for use

  • Work with R&D to align testing platforms both for existing and new products

  • Work with the laboratory management team to ensure that equipment solutions are fit for purpose both for today and tomorrow

  • Build capability of staff with equipment usage and performance

  • Be innovative and source alternative solutions for lab testing

  • Front areas of expertise and equipment processes to internal and external auditors

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements.

  • Ability to influence others in areas of technical expertise.

  • May be involved in ordering consumables and equipment but there is no direct budget responsibility.

    About You:

    As this role is multi-faceted and includes liaising with a wide variety of on-site production and operations teams, you will be a self-motivated person who has strong experience of working in quality and/or manufacturing at a complex manufacturing site. You will have experience of Laboratory Automation / Equipment Validation and a relevant degree (eg; scientific or engineering). You will also have a strong continuous improvement mindset.

    About the Ware Manufacturing Site:

    Medicines at Ware are presented as either Respiratory devices or in Oral Solid Dose form, and the site has circa 1,500 highly-motivated and capable people working at it. The Ware site holds a unique position in our network as the only site responsible for launching the company's pipeline of new medicines in oral and solid dose forms, as well as operating a high-volume commercial production facility for respiratory devices.

    Basic Qualifications:
    • Relevant experience and qualifications, ideally gained working in a laboratory (in a highly regulated industry). Eg. knowledge & experience of laboratory equipment (in a testing environment) to include machinery, IT and also laboratory ways of working.
    • A suitable degree (scientific, technical or engineering).
    • Knowledge (and application) of Quality Management Systems (QMS).
