About RxCelerate The RxCelerate group is an out-sourced drug development platform specialising in the design and delivery of complete drug discovery and development programs and project management for our clients spanning initial ideas through to Phase II clinical studies. The Role The Laboratory Manager will work closely with scientists and department heads to facilitate the smooth running of all of the RxCelerate (RxC) laboratories, ensuring all laboratory procedures adhere to current legislation and protocols, and are correctly documented and risk assessed. Key roles and responsibilities RxCelerate is seeking a skilled Laboratory Manager to oversee the biological and chemical laboratories, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency in all laboratory operations. Key responsibilities include: Operational; Managing laboratory logistics, overseeing staff, and ensuring smooth workflows. Conducting inductions and providing training on laboratory equipment and safety procedures. Managing laboratory stocks, reagents, consumables, PPE, and equipment, in collaboration with technicians. Ensuring the proper preparation of reagents and the management of laboratory-based assets. Coordinating equipment upgrades, purchases, maintenance, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Overseeing laboratory audits, inspections, and temperature monitoring systems. Maintaining up-to-date laboratory documentation, including SOPs and Risk Assessments. Promoting safety, recycling, and proper waste disposal within the laboratory environment. This role requires proactive management, attention to detail, and the ability to identify opportunities for process improvement. People Management; RxCelerate is looking for a Laboratory Manager to lead and support dedicated laboratory staff, providing expert knowledge and direction on all laboratory-related matters. Key responsibilities include: Acting as the primary point of contact for laboratory staff, offering leadership and guidance on current and future laboratory issues. Line managing the Senior Laboratory Technician, overseeing training, goal setting, and supporting their development and line management responsibilities. Regularly reviewing progress towards individual employee goals and providing feedback and support. This role requires strong leadership skills, a focus on staff development, and the ability to manage both current operations and future laboratory needs effectively. Knowledge and skills: Proven experience working as a Laboratory Manager in a pharmaceutical/R&D laboratory. Educated to degree level in a relevant scientific field Knowledge of laboratory Health and Safety regulations. Knowledge of the requirements of the Human Tissue Act Technical problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with an ability to work well under pressure to balance conflicting deadlines and changes in prioritisation. Experience of working under GxP standards. NEBOSH Health and Safety at Work Award or equivalent RxCelerate offers a competitive salary with an annual bonus scheme, company pension and company benefit package (life assurance, critical illness and medical insurance). Whilst full time hours are preferred, part time hours will still be considered.
