In this role as Laboratory Services Analyst, you will ensure that all samples and materials are received and processed promptly on arrival at the laboratory in accordance with the Laboratory Management System. You will also assist in other service tasks within the laboratory and provide a technical service to South East Water and commercial customers.

Previous laboratory or administrative experience is essential, as you will be maintaining electronic records and adhering to laboratory health and safety and compliance standards. You will work to set deadlines and are happy managing your time to ensure key tasks are completed on time. This is a great opportunity to share your suggestions for improvements on efficiency and quality, whilst also developing your own analytical laboratory skills.

Excellent customer service is key, as you will act as a front of house contact for our commercial customers and stay in regular contact with them. Your clear and professional communication style will allow you to liaise effectively with senior staff and the general Water Quality department on any technical or quality issues.

What will you be accountable for?

Processing all samples and deliveries that arrive at the laboratory on time.

Ensuring data is accurately entered into the Laboratory Information Management System.

Completing customer bottle requests and ensure reusable items are properly maintained and available when needed.

Communicating with senior members of staff on any quality/technical issue as well as with other members of the Water Quality Department and Commercial Customers.

Maintaining day to day contact with commercial customers and other South East water Employees as front of house contact for commercial customers.

Offering suggestions for improvements to methods and processes that will improve efficiency, flexibility & quality while developing analytical knowledge and other Laboratory & Water Quality skills.

Maintaining good laboratory practice and housekeeping at all times.

What do you bring to the role?

Educated to A-level or equivalent standard. An undergraduate degree in a relevant subject is desirable.

Good numeracy, literacy and computer skills.

A scientific background.

Previous laboratory or administrative experience.

Good time management, communication and customer service skills.

Experience in a water laboratory is desirable.
