Perform a variety of sample processing techniques which includes, but not limited to, sample preparation and reformatting, nucleic acid extraction, quantification and normalization, tissue preparation, etc. This role involves providing laboratory support as required under the supervision of Lab Team Leaders. Minimum Experience: Must have a minimum of 18 months experience in a similar role. Role Specific Responsibilities, Activities and Competencies: Conducting laboratory processes and procedures. Perform work as directed by the Senior Laboratory Technicians/ Lab Team Leader. Compliance with laboratory procedures (e.g., use of SOPs, Technical Memorandums). Adherence to quality standards. Compliance with documentation and procedures. Compliance with Health and Safety documentation and procedures. Maintaining the cleanliness of the laboratory, including regular cleaning rota. Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment (manual and automated systems). Updating the Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). Taking part in training programmes and development activities. Training and assessing fellow colleagues when required. Undergoing regular periodical competency assessments. Ensuring sample integrity and traceability. Carrying out sample inventories on a regular basis. Maintaining a professional working attitude at all times. Any other reasonable task which may be required outside of normal duties. Health and Safety: Responsible for own health and safety and that of people who may be affected by what you do (or don't do). Work in adherence to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Management of Health and Safety at Work Act 1999 and all other relevant H&S UK Law as set out by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Report any issues, risks, hazards, near misses, incidents or unsafe practices to the management immediately. Understand risks, including COSHH, and how to mitigate them, including adherence to PPE rules. Ensure areas of work are clean, safe and 'fit-to-fly'. Attend all required health & safety training. Quality: Maintain the accuracy and contemporaneity of records. Report any deviations or quality issues to Line Managers promptly and raise non-conformities as per procedure.
