The School of Natural Sciences delivers a wide range of science programmes for students at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate level. We are seeking to appoint a Laboratory Technician to join the School of Natural Sciences Technical Team supporting a wide range of biological science subjects. The role holder will work as an effective member of the technical team, providing technical support for students and staff using laboratories, including preparation of materials, equipment, and resources for teaching, maintenance of equipment, and general laboratory housekeeping. In addition, the role holder will also support students using cell culture facilities during their studies and will be responsible for maintaining cell lines. You will have good communication skills and be able to work as part of a team. You must have an undergraduate science degree, preferably in the area of biosciences. Knowledge of techniques and skills used in cell culture and molecular biology is essential; experience of using these techniques regularly in a laboratory would be advantageous. Previous experience of providing technical support to students in Higher Education would be advantageous and you must have familiarity with setting up and using a wide range of laboratory equipment. You will also be aware of Health and Safety, be computer literate, and have the ability to plan your own work. We encourage applications from a diverse range of applicants.
