The purpose of this position is to complete, to the required quality standards, the analysis of food samples for a given method using laboratory techniques, and to assist in the efficient day-to-day operation of the laboratory. Please note this is a full-time permanent position working 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday 14:00 to 22:00. Key Responsibilities
Undertake all tasks within the main laboratory appropriate to the level of training given by team leaders and management. Register, prepare, and analyze samples as required. Adhere to documented procedures for all aspects of laboratory work, ensuring that all relevant information concerning samples is recorded, that samples are handled correctly, and that all necessary records and quality data are maintained. Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed throughout the day. Maintain turnaround time at >99%, ensuring that daily targets are achieved. Ensure compliance with UK health and safety legislation and maintain a clean and tidy working environment. Wear personal protective clothing and equipment in accordance with the Health & Safety policy. Work with the team to drive the laboratory forward through continuous improvement. Knowledge of the Laboratory Quality Manual to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and associated documents. Assist in operating best practices to meet the requirements of the UKAS accreditation standard. Provide a high level of internal and external customer care. Adopt a flexible approach to work to assist other departments as required. Contribute to continuous improvement within the microbiology department. Qualifications
Educated to GCSE level or equivalent. Experience in working as part of a team. Good organization and time management skills. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to self-motivate. Experience in any type of fast-paced production work.
