What to Expect

McLaren Automotive's New Model Launch team is a skilled group responsible for building all new models in the pre-production phase to prepare them for introduction onto the main production lines.

The Launch Technical Lead will report to the Launch Technical Group Leader and support them in line with the specifications outlined below. What You'll Do

Provide first hand support in the development and launch into production of future McLaren Automotive vehicle platforms and variants. Provide rapid response support to builds by raising concerns to the Engineering teams and following them through to build containment. Provide support during early prototype build phases including virtual builds. Understand & demonstrate a broad knowledge of the build process to provide training & assist when issues arise. Train & mentor Technicians and Team Members to achieve high quality in working practices and processes across all build phases. Assist the Technical Group Leader to produce accurate reporting of captured build concerns and the glide path to countermeasure in each build phase. Assist in the continuous improvement of production & business processes, i.e. quality, safety, cost, productivity. Provide cover for absence within the team and have a flexible approach to working hours as the business demands. Assist in maintaining series Team Member versatility charts and ensure cross training & skills development. Ensure safe working practices are adhered to and that all Team Members are using the correct protective clothing. Track all near misses and accidents to solve any unsafe procedure. Ensure correct usage of tooling and equipment. When required aid the Technical Group Leader in conducting performance reviews and recruitment interviews. Lead by example, influence all Team Members and ensure they are fully motivated. What You'll Bring

Must be able to demonstrate a broad job knowledge of automotive processes and specific skills for the area in question. A foundation degree in engineering would be preferred however a technical background in an engineering discipline would be considered. Understanding and experience in a manufacturing/process driven environment is essential. Quality focused with a keen eye for detail. Excellent motivational attributes. Good level of knowledge for Microsoft Office packages. It is preferred that the candidate will have value added experience with:

Prototype build activity. Vehicle production launch. Build concern reporting. Working in small teams. Taking receipt of guidance and instruction from multiple leadership direction. An understanding of lean tools especially 5 S & 4M. Training in COSHH awareness. The candidate will have determination to drive forward the business to 'Best in Class' performance standards in line with brand expectations. An ability to act under pressure with calmness and clarity of thought. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Who Are We?
