Job Title: Lead HSE Consultant

Salary: £65,000 - £70,000 (Dependant on Experience) + Car Allowance

Location: Midlands (Combination of multiple sites, WFH, client visits – Ideal for candidates based in Birmingham, Coventry, Nottingham, or Leicester)


Overview of the Role:


D7 Recruitment is partnering with a leading Health and Safety Consultancy in the search for an HSE Operations Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior/ Lead HSE Consultant with people management experience. You will have end-to-end responsibility for managing projects and client portfolios, ensuring smooth operational delivery in line with the company's business processes.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Client Relationship Management
  • Act as the primary point of contact for assigned projects.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients at both project and director levels.
  • Attend regular client meetings and site visits.
  • Identify opportunities to grow existing accounts and develop new business with current or potential clients.
  • Ensure post-project review meetings are held with clients to capture feedback and enhance future performance.
  • Project Operational Delivery
  • Collaborate with the Commercial team to generate accurate proposals for projects.
  • Work closely with other Operations Managers to ensure projects are adequately resourced and delivered on time and to profitability targets.
  • Ensure full utilisation of resources and maintain documentation, including timesheet approvals.
  • Oversee the full project lifecycle, managing teams and performance reviews during the project.
  • Lead formal people management processes such as performance reviews, absence management, and disciplinary meetings, supported by HR.
  • Uphold the highest standards of quality and compliance, working closely with the Management team.
  • Engage third-party contractors on projects and explore potential new business partnerships.
  • Commit to delivering chargeable client work for at least eight days per month.
  • Business Development & Strategy
  • Continuously review and suggest improvements to current business processes, aiming to drive efficiency and innovation.


Essential Requirements:


  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven experience in end-to-end project management, planning, and organization.
  • Team management experience.
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • IT literate, with proficiency in common business software.
  • NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent.


Desirable Skills and Experience:


  • Prince2 or equivalent project management qualification.
  • Experience in the construction or manufacturing sectors.
  • NEBOSH Diploma qualification.
  • Ability to adapt and contribute in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly motivated, with a proactive attitude and a positive work ethic.
  • Strong planning and prioritization skills, with a commitment to taking ownership of tasks.
  • Respect for confidentiality and the ability to manage sensitive information appropriately.
