Salary: £44,255 - £53,141 per year subject to job sizing Contract Type: Permanent Position Type: Full Time Hours: 36 hours per week Reporting to the Service Manager (Maintenance Operations), this is a Lead Consultant role within the maintenance unit of the Roads and Transportation Service. The main purpose of the role is: Managing the units Roads and Street Lighting Maintenance service delivery including the activities of sub contractors. Managing H&S ensuring compliance with policy, procedures and that instructions are properly implemented. Contribute to the ongoing monitoring, control and improvement of Service delivery within the Maintenance Operations Unit. Provide an emergency response for Roads, Street Lighting and Flooding emergencies and the provision of a Winter Service. Take part in the Winter/Duty Manager standby roster. Coordinate the activities and functions of the unit with others within and out with the Service in order to deliver a quality, best value and customer focused service. Setting and maintaining standards of conduct. Supporting employees by applying people management skills e.g. motivation, team building and conflict resolution. Managing attendance management levels and employee performance in relation to set triggers and targets. Update the Service Manager (Maintenance Operations) of developments affecting the work or the unit. The Person You should have a minimum qualification of a Degree / HND in an appropriate subject or an HNC and significant professional development within a Roads and Lighting environment. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels both in writing and orally. You should be a good team player as well as able to work alone and unsupervised. Extensive knowledge of the operational management of Roads, Lighting, Winter Services and emergency response procedures. Knowledge of the requirements of trading arrangements and tendering processes in Local Government environment. Comprehensive knowledge and awareness of relevant regulation, legislation and statutory requirements. Possess leadership and team building skills. Ability to motivate others to perform to the highest standards. Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships. Ability to drive forward change under challenging circumstances. Ability to provide regular and effective service.
