Job Details Reporting to the Service Manager (Maintenance Operations), this is a Lead Consultant role within the maintenance unit of the Roads and Transportation Service. Main Responsibilities: Managing the unit's Roads and Street Lighting Maintenance service delivery including the activities of sub contractors. Managing health and safety ensuring compliance with policy and procedures. Contributing to the ongoing monitoring, control and improvement of Service delivery within the Maintenance Operations Unit. Providing an emergency response for Roads, Street Lighting and Flooding emergencies and the provision of a Winter Service. Participating in the Winter/Duty Manager standby roster. Coordinating the activities and functions of the unit with others to deliver a quality, best value and customer-focused service. Setting and maintaining standards of conduct. Supporting employees by applying people management skills such as motivation, team building and conflict resolution. Managing attendance and employee performance in relation to set triggers and targets. Updating the Service Manager (Maintenance Operations) on developments affecting the work or the unit. The Person You should have a minimum qualification of a Degree / HND in an appropriate subject or an HNC with significant professional development within a Roads and Lighting environment. Key skills include: Effective communication at all levels, both in writing and orally. Ability to work as a team player as well as independently. Extensive knowledge of operational management in Roads, Lighting, Winter Services, and emergency response procedures. Understanding of trading arrangements and tendering processes in a Local Government environment. Comprehensive knowledge of relevant regulations, legislation, and statutory requirements. Leadership and team building skills, with the ability to motivate others. Capability to develop and maintain effective relationships. Ability to drive forward change under challenging circumstances.
