This exciting role offers an opportunity to Join the ETCS Integration Design Team within Siemens as part of the East Coast Digital Project (ECDP). Working as part of a close-knit team the Rolling Stock Lead Design Engineer will have an Electrical background within Siemens or elsewhere, the successful candidate will support a growing Design and Project team in delivering the retrofit of Freight Locomotives with the Siemens ETCS Trainguard 300 system.
The Lead Design Engineer role is a key role within the project environment, with involvement in a wide range of design activities throughout the whole project lifecycle. This role provides the opportunity to travel both in the UK and overseas, ensuring an international flavour to your knowledge base and, over time, establish a rounded career in a global railway industry.

- Working with engineering team members in the UK and throughout Siemens to ensure that the project design solutions meet our customers' needs now, and in the future.
- Providing input and ideas to determine the most appropriate technical, product and commercial solutions within the given geographical and technical environment.
- Providing input to innovation and value engineering is applied to all proposals.
- Being a key player within the Integration Team.
Your success will be grounded by ...
- Having in depth practical knowledge and experience of designing the retro-fitment installation of train systems, in particular TPWS, AWS, GSM-R, Wi-Fi, CCTV and DAS.
- Good understanding of application design of standard hardware in an on-train environment and documentation of the application design for train carried systems.
- Ability to understand and capture installation design requirements (specifications, scenarios, rules, etc.) relating to the subsystem.
- Have a degree or equivalent in a relevant electrical field.
- Proven track record in working in major sub-contractor environments.
- Ability to work the basics of CAD packages (preferably Solid Edge).
- Competent designer and verifier of Electrical Schematic and Harness Design
