Band 6 Lead ECT Nurse Part time 15 hours per week, Tuesday and Friday.

Are you an experienced registered clinician looking for a new opportunity to develop your clinical skills in the treatment of Electroconvulsive therapy? We are looking for a band 6 Lead ECT nurse to join our friendly ECT team in Stafford who is passionate, enthusiastic and works well within a team ensuring quality evidenced based care and interventions. Previous experience working in ECT is not essential but would be an advantage. You will be responsible to support the ECT team by providing skilled and timely care to patients recovering from anaesthetic post ECT. As a lead you will be expected to support professional development through clinical appraisal and supervision.

Main duties of the job You will work alongside another ECT lead nurse and be responsible for the management of band 5 nurses ensuring appraisals, supervision and management of absences are done in a timely manner. Co-ordinate ECT clinic for both inpatient and community patients working closely with family members and engaging with MDT teams. Manage patient caseload in the ECT department and develop individual treatment plans and care plans ensuring timely and accurate documentation. Management of stock control, ordering of equipment and ensuring medical devices are serviced. Work within the MDT to develop quality improvements within the department and maintain ECTAS standards. Attend training days specific to ECT.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Registered mental health professional (NMC - must be active on NMC register) Leadership qualification at degree or diploma level Registered mentor/supervisor

Desirable Post registration course/s at degree or diploma level - including but not limited to physical health modules, non-medical prescribing, student mentorship, courses relating to ECT such as ECTAS approved training

Experience Essential Evidence of extensive post registration experience with working with adults experiencing mental health related difficulties Experience of integrating care delivery across multi-disciplinary /multi agency teams Experience of leading/contributing to CPA/SAP process Experience and ability to carry out clinical audit

Desirable Experience of working as a ECT Nurse

Skills & Knowledge Essential A range of skills and knowledge to deliver evidence based interventions Good Knowledge of NMC Code of Conduct Range of Interpersonal skills, (communication, listening, working collaboratively) maintaining good working relationships with service users/carers, other service providers and agencies

Desirable Good knowledge of ECT treatment, policy and national guidance in accordance with ECTAS standards from the Royal College of Psychiatrist. Range of specialist assessments and interventions to support such as CGI, CPRS, MMSE, and MADRS.
