Reporting to the Manager – Body Zone Leadership, you will be the Lead Engineer responsible for integration designs within the Body Space within your ‘Zone’. You will provide specialised knowledge, guidance, and leadership regarding the CAD design and integration of the 3 main areas of Body (Structures, Interior, and Exterior). As part of the Body Integration team, you will collaborate closely with engineering teams and external partners to optimize design solutions from Concept release through to series production sign-off on a program of your assigned zone. What you’ll do…. Technical Expertise & Consultation:
Serve as the CAD integration lead for your zone of the vehicle to ensure that all DMU, Technical and PQ issues are resolved between the systems within Body. The successful candidate will require strong CAD skills and the ability to suggest ideas that may need to balance all parties' requirements for the good of the final customer. Supporting Functional Integration:
Support Attribute and technical integration within the given ‘Zone’ to drive out complexity and deliver the most cost and mass-efficient technical solutions against the vehicle targets for Quality, Cost, and Timing. Collaborating with the Architecture team:
Work with the vehicle architecture and Package teams from an early stage to develop master sections and solutions considering all inputs from Programme and Engineering teams within Body. Collaboration & Support:
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Architecture, Packaging, product design, quality assurance, and manufacturing, to resolve integration-related challenges and optimise product designs. Report & Document:
Lead potentially complex issue resolutions in an 8D-like structure from design to production line issues, including representing the PD team in escalation meetings with the Manufacturing facility. Who you are…. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related field (Master's or PhD preferred). Minimum of 10 years of experience in a Body Engineering function with a heavy CAD focus, ideally with CATIA v5 or v6. In-depth knowledge of design principles for key Body systems within a zone (Front, Rear, Cabin, underbody, etc.). Proven track record of leading or contributing to R&D projects, product development, or material innovation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including in a Manufacturing Environment. Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and lead technical discussions.
