Lead Materials Engineer - Weld Metallurgy
to be involved in an industry-leading, cutting-edge design project for a new type of power station. The successful materials engineer (Lead Materials Engineer – Weld Metallurgy) will sit within the materials and chemistry team which supports the full lifecycle of the power plant from conceptual design through to decommissioning, including providing support to manufacturing and development engineering, and the supply chain. Therefore, the role will include responsibilities within the wide and varied tasks the team needs to achieve, and this role will be principally focused on the following areas: Support the business in weld development Develop requirements for the control of weld consumables, defining post weld heat treatment requirements Weld Procedure Qualifications and Welder Qualifications (Materials acceptance standards) The role requires a close working relationship with other teams within the engineering directorate as part of Integrated Project Teams (component design, weld engineering, Non-Destructive Examination), and within the external supply chain (The Welding Institute / EPRI Welding Research and Technology Council) Expert Elicitations Have broad experience with materials within a nuclear environment in order to provide governance for the wider team’s activities Integrate and own the plan to ensure delivery to cost, quality, and schedule.
