Lead Hydraulic Modeller

and play a vital role in delivering wastewater modelling projects that will directly lead to the improvement of the environment and/or benefit our customers in our region. Reporting directly to the Head of Modelling & Systems Insight, you'll oversee the creation and maintenance of our wastewater hydraulic models and be a key component of the technical development of our modelling approach whilst supporting the development of your team. Identifying and adopting innovative techniques and delivering industry best practices will be vital in helping to meet our long-term goals. What you’ll be doing as a Lead Hydraulic Modeller

Leading on the modelling input to our Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans. Utilising the models to identify and quantify key risks across Thames Water’s area, working alongside the planning community, engineering and operational colleagues. To become recognised for being a subject matter expert for evaluating data and information derived from hydraulic models to inform the long-term vision for modelling, providing innovative solutions to strategic challenges now and into the future. Initiate and manage flow and environmental surveys and advise where additional monitoring can improve our activities and the accuracy of our models. Advise on where improvements can be made to our networks to improve resilience, facilitate growth, deal with climate change and improve our efficiency. Identifying opportunities to manage growth, prevent pollution, reduce the risk of flooding and help to achieve our carbon net-zero targets. Working with others across the wider business and influencing senior leaders and investment decisions. Hybrid role based in Reading with 2 days a week in our office. 36 hours per week Monday-Friday. What you should bring to the role

Be passionate about hydraulic modelling and excited about the opportunity to advance near-real-time modelling at this scale. Hold a solid understanding of hydraulic modelling principles and be able to use this knowledge to support and mentor your team. Industry experience in modelling & hydraulics, ideally in a sewerage-related role. You’ll ideally be chartered or working toward a charter ship in a related field. Strong communication skills to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. Degree-qualified in engineering, environmental or science-based subjects. What’s in it for you?
