Lead Infrastructure Engineer Ref. 938 Department: Engineering Salary: £66,812 Recruitment and Retention Allowance: £5,720 per annum This is a Full-time position based in office, flexible working patterns available. Are you looking for a role that provides for interesting and diverse IT infrastructure and facilities evolution and development challenges? As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer for HMGCC, you will join a diverse, highly motivated team, delivering impact in direct support of the national security mission. With responsibility for all technical aspects, you will lead a team of multi-disciplined engineers performing complex system evaluations for both bespoke and commercial products and solutions, using the latest tools and technologies. You will work closely with our national security partners as you develop unique and bespoke infrastructure to deliver quality infrastructure solutions that help to keep the country safe. You will be an already established expert in your field, skilled in multiple disciplines, and have proven experience in the design, development, and support of infrastructure systems. You will be directly responsible for delivering medium to long term strategies for product development, defining guidelines for the engineering community, and establishing ways of working for your engineering team. The role of Lead Infrastructure Engineer covers work in diverse technology disciplines such as Software, Infrastructure, Penetration Testing, and communication techniques. Working closely with our Software Developers and Infrastructure Technicians, you will develop new skills and grow your existing expertise as you build, support, and maintain crucial infrastructure in direct support of the national security mission. You will engage frequently with departments outside of the infrastructure team to achieve shared objectives, offering the opportunity to directly influence the technical direction within a dynamic and innovative team environment. Technical Skills

Demonstrable experience of leading infrastructure teams, fostering collaboration, making strategic decisions, and taking responsibility for a range of different platforms and systems. Proven experience with the design and implementation of enterprise infrastructure. Significant depth and breadth of technical services and solutions, such as VMware vSphere, Microsoft Windows server administration, Linux system administration. Proven experience of maintaining infrastructure systems, equipment, networks, and services. Beneficial knowledge in the following areas: Practical experience of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), i.e., Terraform, Ansible, Puppet. CompTIA Network+ and Security+ certified (or equivalent demonstrable experience/certification) or higher. Practical experience of scripting tools, i.e., Python, PowerShell, Bash. Knowledge of RF Mast architecture and associated antenna and cabling configurations. A qualification to Degree level or equivalent in electronics or communication. Your Personal Skills

Using your diverse range of skills within the evaluations team, you will: Work with our Infrastructure Engineers and Technicians to design, implement, and support our existing server infrastructure. Lead the preparation and conduct of product trials on and off site. Lead the support strategy of products and solutions. Manage the administration of our bespoke evaluations infrastructure. Lead project planning and meetings. Work with senior stakeholders to provide strategic thinking and direction setting for infrastructure systems. With suitable training provided: Asset management of lab equipment; identifying future equipment needs, purchasing new equipment, management of the equipment pool, managing and arranging equipment maintenance and servicing schedules. Maintain and manage a broad range of test facilities including RF Screened Rooms, Compact Test ranges with technologies such as 5G, GNSS, WiFi 7, Bluetooth, and NB-IoT/LTE-M. What we Offer
