Lead Mechanical Engineer Canterbury, Kent, UK - Onsite Salary up to £55,000 DOE benefits We are seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in development engineering. This role plays a crucial part in developing high-performance interconnect solutions for critical applications in aerospace and defense industries. The Lead Engineer will oversee product design, guide junior engineers, and ensure compliance with industry standards. The main responsibilities of the Lead Mechanical Engineer include: Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and conduct design reviews Collaborate with sales on engineering feasibility and assess new project opportunities Lead the NPI lifecycle from concept to manufacturing, including quoting and cost analysis Manage ERP documentation, create manufacturing specifications, and control configuration Conduct customer technical discussions and ensure compliance with AS9100 standards The Skills and qualifications required include: Minimum 7 years in mechanical engineering, ideally with a background in aerospace, defence, automotive or industrial Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and FEA tools; strong understanding of project management and manufacturing processes Strong adaptability, customer focus, and leadership skills This role is ideal for a seasoned mechanical engineer ready to lead high-impact projects in a specialised, quality-driven environment.
