Lead Nurse – Child Death Review Team

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a nurse leader who is passionate about the statutory child death review process. The child death review process aims to reduce child mortality rates, ensure families are supported, and that lessons following a review are embedded in practice. The post is fairly unique nationally as it is hospital-based, which facilitates the delivery of comprehensive reviews that cross organisational and professional boundaries. The post holder will work in partnership with the Women's and Children's Directorate management team. This work will include identifying risks and cases that require escalation as well as monitoring and achieving key performance indicators in line with the service specification. The post is part-time. The post holder will be on the rota for the Joint Agency Response following a sudden, unexplained, or traumatic child death, backed up by paediatricians. They will also be expected to lead reviews following a child death and become part of the child death, palliative care, and bereavement team with management responsibilities. Main Duties of the Job

Knowledge Requirements

Experience at working at Band 7 Experience working with families Safeguarding experience Worked as part of an integrated or multi-disciplinary team Experience of interagency working with Police, Social Care Excellent presentation and teaching skills Excellent report writing skills and action planning Ability to work under pressure Specialist role in safeguarding Experience of clinical supervision Experience of delivering training to health staff. Qualifications

RN and additional post registration qualification (e.g. HV, MW, SN) First level degree or equivalent Qualification in teaching and assessing or equivalent Demonstration of ongoing professional development Master qualification / working towards Analytical and Judgement Skills

Ability to analyse information quickly and thoroughly and to act upon findings. Extensive senior nursing experience within a complex organization Experience of operating and communicating effectively with clinicians and Directors Experience of initiating, conducting, and evaluating risk assessments and investigations Experience of leading and managing staff Strategic development skills Proven track record in leadership and management Evidence of participating in and leading organisational change that has led to changes in quality Contractual Requirements

To work within a 7-day rota To adhere to uniform policy To possess a clean, current driving licence Ability to work flexibly NMC Registration Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. Salary: £53,755 to £60,504 per annum pro rata
