Salary band H £37,938 to £40,476 per annum

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, dynamic and capable individual to the role of Lead Officer (Food, Safety and Licensing).

Candidates will need to demonstrate that they have proven experience in the field of Licensing and are able to apply Licensing policy, guidance and legislation on a range of licensing considerations.

The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate qualification and competency, in accordance with the Food Law Code of Practice, to deliver official food controls in a wide range of food businesses. We will consider applications from those who have the relevant qualification, but are working towards competency.

You will be able to effectively and efficiently deal with a wide range of matters, including responding to reactive complaints, inspecting and auditing a wide range of premises, and undertaking formal enforcement action. This will involve making site visits, conducting interviews, and preparing reports, documents, and evidence in connection to investigations.

You will be required to prepare and present reports and make appropriate recommendations to the Licensing and Regulatory Committee, and sub-committees as necessary. You will also contribute to licensing policy reviews and lead on consultations.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required for this role. Experience working with partners and external agencies on environmental health and licensing-related matters would be desirable.

This is an exciting and challenging role providing an opportunity for those seeking career progression. The right candidate will gain experience in managing a diverse workload, and act as the escalation point for complex licensing matters within the organisation. Line management of Specialist Assistants forms part of this role giving an opportunity to develop management skills.

For clarification, you will report to the Team Leader (Commercial), who is the lead Food Officer as defined by the Food Law Code of Practice.

Opportunities for training and development will be available.

The successful candidate will be able to take advantage of our hybrid working scheme.
