We are now recruiting for a Lead Planning Engineer to join us permanently on our major project located near Reading. Job Summary: The Lead Planning Engineer is responsible for managing the Planning team, delivering the schedule development, reporting, updating and maintenance services to Programmes and Projects. The Lead Planning Engineer will provide a service to 1 or more projects and/or programmes for the Amentum E&E (UK) business unit. Responsibilities Include: Ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of data communicated and reported to all Stakeholders. Highlighting or escalating any issues as appropriate, through the Project Controls Management structure. Actively contribute to continuous improvement of the functional quality and performance of Project Controls. Managing, mentoring, and coaching the Planning delivery teams. Managing the delivery team in the preparation of baselines during all project phases. Managing the delivery team in the creation of time-phased schedules. Managing the delivery team in the preparation, monitoring, and forecasting of schedule activities within the Work breakdown structure and project end date. Managing the delivery team in the preparation, monitoring, and forecasting against the baseline and working schedules during all the project phases. Managing the delivery team in the establishment and maintenance of a Basis of Schedule for all schedules produced. Ensuring all applicable schedule activities have rules of credit and quantity tracking mechanisms established and maintained to enable trend identification and support feedback of schedule norms. Maintaining the planning databases and validate the information across planning systems. Providing support to the Commercial team with approval of contractor schedules and applications for payment relating to milestones. Managing the delivery team in the provision of required information to support the risk process. Implementing the project variation and change control processes and track use of contingency. Generating and implementing change control requests. Managing the delivery team in the preparation of schedule reports, including earned value analysis, identifying critical areas and trends and recommend recovery options/plans. Minimum Requirements: Education/Experience: Essential: Relevant qualifications or demonstrated equivalent experience. Experience: 10+ years’ experience working in a project delivery environment ideally in the nuclear sector or a similar highly regulated sector. Preferred Qualifications: Preferred: Professional membership of a relevant chartered body. Preferred: Trained in an appropriate Project management qualification. Currently hold SC or prepared to go through the SC process. Amentum are an equal opportunities employer.
