The Clinical Research Team are looking for expressions of interest for a self-motivated colleague to work alongside our team for one day per week for 3 months between Jan-March 2025. This will be an individual who is already working within one of our clinical services where there is the opportunity to promote one of our NIHR research projects e.g working age adults, older adults, early interventions, inpatient working age (not exhaustive please contact the research team if in doubt). Experience of clinical research is not essential but an interest in research and a desire to increase research visibility and opportunity amongst our colleagues and service users is a must! There is some more information on key responsibilities and person specification below and interested parties should speak with their line managers to gain approval. Main duties of the job

The Clinical Research Team conducts National Institute of Health and Care Research Portfolio research on a wide variety of mental health and service provision related topics. The successful candidates will be involved in helping to promote appropriate projects for their service area for 3 months. This will involve speaking to staff and service users about research (the anticipated main duty of the role), and may also involve receiving informed consent (with relevant training) and following up research participants as needed. We are seeking self-motivated, enthusiastic persons with strong clinical, organisational and interpersonal skills, to work alongside our team. Knowledge of research methods and design is not essential but applicants must have an interest in clinical research and a desire to drive this forwards. About us

Qualifications and Education

Registered Nurse/Allied Health Professional or other Registered Professional Post-graduate qualification or can demonstrate equivalent levels of experience Good clinical practice in Research Experience and Knowledge

Recent and relevant experience working in a health/social care environment with patient contact Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams and working across professional and organisational boundaries Experience of staff supervision Experience of project management Experience of running concurrent projects to quality standards and performance targets with minimal supervision Involvement in research or experience of working in a clinical research environment with knowledge of research design, methods and governance processes Experience of line management Skills and Attributes

Ability to communicate complex, study related information, to patients and their families - sometimes at time of distress for the patients/families Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills Excellent organisational skills with ability to run concurrent projects with minimal supervision Ability to act on one's own initiative and work autonomously Ability to manage and prioritise workload to deadlines Excellent computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft office applications and the internet Ability to maintain appropriate documentation and record keeping to quality standards Access to transport is essential for this post, as you will be expected to travel in order to carry out required duties Clinical skills competency in phlebotomy and drug administration (within professional boundaries) Clinical skills competency in processing of blood samples.
